Legal Billable Narrative Rewriter

You already wrote the hours down. Paste them in exactly how you tracked them — shorthand, abbreviations, whatever. The client-friendly, invoice-ready version comes out the other side at three detail levels.

Timesheet input

Minimal Standard Detailed
Each line = one time entry. Hours go at the end (e.g. 0.3, 1.4, 2.5).

Narrative pitfalls to avoid

  • Block-billed entries. "Various discovery tasks — 4.2" gets cut or disputed. Split into discrete actions, each with its own time.
  • Vague verbs. "Worked on matter" tells the client nothing. Every entry needs a concrete action verb and a concrete object.
  • Internal admin leaking in. Time spent on firm software, calendar juggling, or onboarding a paralegal isn't billable. Audit for these before sending.
  • Strategy talk on the invoice. Don't reveal litigation strategy in the narrative. "Reviewed discovery responses" beats "Hid weak points from opposing counsel."

Write the notes how you already write them.

The billable-friendly version happens automatically. A properly-worded invoice gets paid 30% faster — that's real money. We wire this directly into your practice-management tool so it runs on every entry you log.
